This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how WebToolsz ("WebToolsz", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information in connection with the WhatsApp Media Manager mobile application (package name com.webtoolsz.whatsappmediamanager) and any related services (collectively, the "App"). It also explains the rights and choices available to you regarding your information.
WhatsApp Media Manager is an independent utility and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc. "WhatsApp" is a trademark of its respective owner and is used only to describe compatibility.
By downloading, installing, or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the App.
WebToolsz is an entity based in India and is the controller (and, under Indian law, the "Data Fiduciary") responsible for the processing of information described in this Policy. The App is offered to users worldwide, and we aim to comply with the data protection laws applicable to our users, including the Indian Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA). To provide its core features, the App reads media file metadata such as file names, file sizes, formats, dates, and folder locations. This metadata is stored locally on your device (for example, in an on-device database used to speed up scans) and is used solely to display your storage breakdown and to help you find large, old, or duplicate files. It is not sent to us.
The App integrates the following third-party software development kits (SDKs) provided by Google. These services may automatically collect certain information governed by their own privacy policies:
We use Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the App is used so we can improve features and performance. It may process data such as app usage events, session duration, device model, operating system version, app version, language, general region derived from IP address, and app instance identifiers. We use Crashlytics to detect and diagnose crashes and stability issues. When the App crashes, it may collect diagnostic data including crash stack traces, device state, device model, operating system version, and app version. This helps us fix bugs and improve reliability.
The free version of the App may display advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID (AAID), along with approximate location derived from IP address and interaction data, to deliver and measure ads. Depending on your region and settings, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. In-app purchases and subscriptions (the Pro upgrade) are processed by Google Play Billing. We receive confirmation of purchase status to unlock features, but we do not receive or store your payment card or bank details. All payment processing is handled by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.
The App uses Google Play In-App Update and In-App Review APIs to offer app updates and to invite optional reviews. These are provided by Google Play Services and governed by Google's policies.
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO, READ_MEDIA_AUDIO, and on older devices READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): to scan, display, compress, and delete the media you choose to manage.POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to send optional weekly storage insights and tips. You may disable these at any time.INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): to load ads, check for updates, and fetch remote configuration.AD_ID): used by AdMob to serve ads, subject to your device settings.FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_DATA_SYNC): to reliably complete media compression tasks you start.You can review and revoke permissions at any time in your device Settings. Revoking media access will disable the App's core functionality.
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR applies, we process information on the following legal bases: (a) your consent (for example, for personalized ads and optional notifications, where required); (b) legitimate interests (for example, to secure and improve the App and to serve non-personalized ads); and (c) performance of a contract (for example, to process purchases). You may withdraw consent at any time as described in Section 11.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
Our third-party service providers may process data on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses. By using the App, you understand that information may be transferred and processed in such locations.
We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information for money. Certain ad-related data sharing may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CPRA; you can opt out by disabling ad personalization on your device and by contacting us. We do not knowingly process the sensitive personal information of California residents beyond what device services provide.
As WebToolsz is based in India, our processing of personal data is subject to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), and applicable rules under the Information Technology Act, 2000. Under these laws:

Media metadata stored on your device persists only until you clear it, revoke permissions, or uninstall the App. Data collected by third-party services is retained according to their respective retention policies. We retain support communications only as long as necessary to address your request.
Because your media stays on your device, you retain direct control over it. We rely on reputable third-party providers that implement industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards for any limited data they process. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The App is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your jurisdiction, such as 18 under India's DPDP Act for certain protections). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
The App and this website may contain links to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party you interact with.
We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-App notice. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of the revised Policy constitutes acceptance of the changes.
